Nahida
Al Ramah
Nahida helped establish the modern Iraqi Theatre. She acted in many
Iraqi films and plays, such as the film “The Thirsty” and the play
“The Palm Tree And The Neighbours”. The seventies were a hard time
for Nahida, as her work and beliefs placed her in great danger from
the regime. She was arrested and there were many attempts on her
life during the Ba’athist rule. She had no choice but to flee Iraq
in the end, losing her sight in exile. Nahida was 58 when she gave
her testimony, recorded on November 25th 2004.
