Shao’ul Sasson

A businessman from Al Khudhairi family. His father, Sasson Al Khudhari, was the Chief Rabbi in Iraq. Shao’ul was arrested in 1968 by the Baathist regime and interned in the notorious Al Nihaya (the End) Palace Prison. He knew that there was very little hope of coming out of the prison alive. Shaoul spent a whole year in the terrifying prison, enduring great suffering, and attempted suicide more than once. He paints a horrific image of the torture endured by many Iraqis, including the former prime minister Abdul Rahman Al Bazzaz. Shao’ul, who wrote a book on his ordeal entitled “In Saddams’ Hell”, was 98 years old when he gave this testimony on December, 3rd 2003.
